An awesome story of resiliency

Image
Years ago I saved this story and I recently found it after cleaning out my out my Google drive fold. It’s an awesome story of resilience! I hope this just the pick me up your needed during this busy holiday season. I never found who wrote it so if you know please make sure to leave it in the comment section so I can give them their proper credit!  A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them i

CPT Time

Growing up it wasn't outside the norm to be late for social events. It would be further from the truth to say it was intentionally done to be fashionably late for a grand entrance. I can admit it was due to the mismanagement of time. The perfect recipe for being tardy is a late start getting ready. Speaking for myself, a late start either happens when I want extra sleep or when I randomly start multitasking. Before I knew it I'd look up at the clock and my “get ready time” would have shrunk! We all know when your getting ready every minute counts. I work in the healthcare field so I know that it is recommend to arrive 15 mins prior to your appointment to fill out necessary paperwork. In some cases when you're waiting for your appointment and the office is running behind because someone showed up exactly on time or late. We call this the tumble effect. I'm personally not a fan because of this before lunch because it shortens my break😑 No shade, we all have t

Same hours in the day as Beyonce?

We are quickly approaching the end of 2022 and I'm already mapping out an updated daily routine. I've completely abandoned the term "new year resolution" simply because the term is over rated. Yes, the concept is similar but I'd like to think of it as a new and improved daily routine starting in 2023...just let me be great! Lol   Most of us do not have the same 24 hours in a day as Beyonce. Truth is, she has the resources to pay someone to do the day to day tasks which in turn allow her more time be productive. Beyonce probably has a chef, housekeeper, aassistants and nannies. Money equals resources. This will be me soon... I'm claiming it. If you work a 9 to 5 like me than you'll agree what you are able to accomplish after work will vary. Some of my go tos to help me remember my chores are using a to do list app. Over the years this has saved me from doing multiple trips to the store. The bougie version of me would like to call it my digital assistant.  L

Metabolism in your 40's

Congratulations we have made it past the Thanksgiving feast or if you're in my boat...feasts. I had a full Friendsgiving spread the week before the traditional Thanksgiving gathering this year. I'm starting to rethink going food crazy at the Christmas parties and Christmas dinner that is around the corner. Who else wishes the Thanksgiving and Christmas were spread out with more months in between!      In my late 20’s I started to notice my metabolism slow down. I could no longer eat whatever I wanted without weight gain. This is coming from a person who was so skinny that I would pray for weight gain. No lie, there were times when I thought the calories from the Big Mac with extra sauce were broken. Fortunately I started to take exercising and food choices more seriously before diabetes, high blood pressure or something worse were even a factor.       Sure my lifestyle change was so that I could fit in my jeans but also so I can avoid any behavior induced health related is
