To Class Reunion or Nah

This Fall I attended my college homecoming. I still cant believe it's been 18 years since I graduated. Time really does fly! Being on campus brings back both the fun and the academic stressful memories that college life entails. I don't always make it every year but I’m glad when I do. I live for the alumni swag bags and catching up with old classmates.

 My homecoming includes a huge catered tailgate party in the parking lot before the big D2 class soon to be D1 class football game. Don’t ask, I never know who we play until I get the tickets…this is least important info LOL. This year we shared a table with new graduates who were shocked to hear we were roommates from the graduating classof 04'. Does anyone else keep in touch with their roommates? Social media definitely makes it easier now a days. Not me sounding like an old lady LOL!

I'm almost positive work, life and distance play a part in attendance. Let’s be honest, some people find it underwhelming to attend class reunions. I've often wonder if it correlates with their school experience? I feel like I rarely see the off campus/commuter students and wonder if it plays a part in how they feel connected to school after graduation. I don’t have an answer and could just be grasping for straws. When your class or homecoming comes around do you go…if not what are your reasons? Jelly Jar Centennial Milestone

Growing up I've always loved the segment of the  Today Show  that highlighted 100th birthday milestones. Each centennial's picture was placed on a Smuckers Jelly Jar and Al Roker would read their hobbies and current locations. Belive it or not this was the motivational push that inspired me to start a wellness conscious lifestyle. For some, this might sound far fetched however my grandmother was 102 years old and her sister was 106 before they became heavenly  ancestors. Although genetic longevity is a good start I understand maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a must. Only appropriate to insert a random southern saying...Lord willing and the creek don't rise. If I'm honest I've never gotten an explanation on the creek rising part. Viral TikTok Filter Stirs Up Mixed Reactions!!

What's the fuss? The first Tiktok filter is called, Teenage, which shows a split screen of a “younger” version of you and what you currently look like today. Apparently it has been a trigger for some app users especially for those who had difficult teenage years. Initially I thought the reactions were because they were distraught about how they've aged. Then I stumbled across a reaction of a crying lady who saw the troubled teenage version of herself. The other TikTok filter is called, Bold Glamour. This filter includes a full coverage makeup that includes lashes, highlights, deep contouring and for some people it chisels your jawline. The complaint is how the masculine jaw alteration makes them feel self conscious about the results.  I’m sure there will be more social media filters to enjoy and scrutinize. I can attest they definitely keep things interesting! One could only hope that those who were struggling with the past see this as a gateway to professional counseling.  -Ni
