Black History Month: Black Inventions

Image
I learned about most of these black in inventors in Sunday school as a child. How many did you know?  I’m curious to know who old you were and where you learned this. Leave me a comment because l’m curious! My Linktree

What are you fasting for Lent?

Image
When is it? This year February 22 marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season. It is most often a time when believers fast until Easter. Per Google, Easter will be April 4th this year. Fasting usually lasts for a total of 6 and a half weeks. Why should you fast? It's more than just having an ash cross on your forehead. It's a time to reconnect to the Highest with your obedience by way of fasting and praying. "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return." What can you fast? This is totally up to you. Some people might give up coffee, tv, social media, meat, sweets or dairy. I usually give up more than one thing. Over achiever much? Lol! Just remember it is not a competition nor is it about dieting. My Linktree

Galentines Day? Yes, please!

Image
Thanks to Leslie Knope, from the TV show Parks and Recreation we have Galentine’s Day. I had no idea this started back in 2010. This day is typically celebrated with your female friends sometime before February 14th. Galentine’s can be a restaurant meet up or hosted at home. I’m down for either!  How dope would it be to host a Galentine’s and guest arrive in cozy pajamas with wine and bring their favorite party game. A classic Galentine’s party wouldn’t be complete without your favorite music playlist! Never have I ever is a good game to keep in your arsenal. This is also good distraction for those of us who are single this time of the year. If you’re group of friends are anything like my friends we always want more reasons to get together outside of birthdays! Happy Galentine’s Day ladies! -Nikko Linktree

The 90s was the best decade!

How old was I?  I entered the 90’s on my 8th birthday and it gloriously ended the year I turned 17. These precious years shaped who I am and is still my go to music. I’m always fascinated when a song from that era comes on and it takes me back to a childhood memory at the roller skating ring, birthday party, vacation etc. The ironic thing is how some days I don’t remember what I had for breakfast but my mind has vivid long term memories of the 90s LOL This was the bright colored jackets, crop top, overalls, plaid shirts, bandana headbands bucket hats and of course track suits! I was definitely a baggy comfy clothing era Life without cellphones? I didn’t have a cell phone until I was freshman year in college. Before that I had a clear purple cell phone that I would use to send friends codes. My favorite beeper code was 07734=hello (read upside down). It wasn’t outside the norm to carry change to use the pay phones. I got my first private landline when I was in middle school. I thought I
